THE AWKWARD
‘ABOUT ME’ PAGE
Look, I could have written this ‘About Me’ section in the third person. I could have said something like this: ‘After a career of many different jobs, including school teaching, food photography and production management, Jennine never felt like she had found her calling’ but it kind of felt weird. Writing about myself like I am in the next room doesn’t really sit comfortably.
Which leads me to answer the big question of ‘So, who am I?’ All existential crises aside, I’m exactly what the top of the website says, a writer and a director. I am a lover of the rough edges of everyday life, I am curious as to why interesting things, and indeed sometimes awful things, happen in silence. I am obsessed with what makes people tick, what makes them happy, sad, angry. What flips the switch?
Visually, I am obsessed with small details, the way light fills a space and how people inhabit and move through their world. The collaborative process of bringing all of this to life is my happy place. I am in awe of the expertise, love of storytelling and care that the people that I work with have for their craft. Being in the thick of the creative problem solving with them is so very addictive.
It took me a while but I think it is safe to say that I have definitely found my calling.

A little while back I became a tad obsessed with the rich and layered visuals of the average train commute. For months I had my trusty and now, sadly defunct, iPhone 12 poised at the ready in an attempt to capture something that I would have otherwise missed. I’m no Vivian Maier but here are a few of my favourite images.
